Enterprise Pilot

Getting started with your pilot

A step-by-step guide to running your SafeRedact Enterprise pilot, from account setup to evaluating your first redacted output.

Scope

Pilot scope

Full SafeRedact Enterprise feature set, run against a real subject access request. The file allowance is agreed for each pilot based on the size of your export, so you can validate detection accuracy, DSAR mode, and export quality on the actual case.

Walkthrough

Step-by-step pilot walkthrough

01
Access your pilot account
Create your account at saferedact.app/enterprise/app using the "Create account" tab with your work email address. Access is enabled by our team once your pilot agreement is in place. Questions to support@saferedact.app.
02
Prepare your test files
Ideally use real files: a mix of MSG/EML, DOCX, PDF, XLSX, or a PST export. If not possible, use anonymised samples reflecting your typical DSAR export structure. Your pilot file allowance is agreed up front from the size of your export.
03
Create a new DSAR job
Click "New DSAR Job" and enter the data subject's details: name, email, phone, NI, employee ID. Richer data means more accurate preservation vs. redaction.
04
Upload and process
Drag files, a ZIP, or a PST into the upload zone. Files process concurrently; a hundred files typically completes in a few minutes, and larger cases can be left running with checkpoint resume if the browser closes.
05
Review detections
Step through each file in the review panel. Accept, reject, or manually add redactions. Watch for: false positives, missed third-party PII, and edge cases.
06
Export and evaluate
Export redacted files and audit CSV. Verify: subject PII intact, third-party PII redacted with █ blocks, document structure preserved. Share audit CSV with compliance/legal.

Evaluation

Evaluating accuracy

Subject preservation

Does every reference to the data subject remain visible — first name only, email in signature, phone in out-of-office?

Third-party redaction

Are all third-party names, emails, phones, addresses redacted? Spot-check 5–10 documents. Detection is designed to over-surface rather than miss, and the review step is where your team confirms the remainder.

Output quality

Document structure intact, metadata stripped, █ blocks cleanly applied with no partial reveals.

Limitations

Known limitations

PST files: PST containers are extracted in the browser with a practical size ceiling of around 2GB. For larger mailboxes, split the export or re-export as individual MSG files from Purview.
Scanned PDFs: Image-only PDFs require OCR (not supported). Text-based PDFs fully supported.
Shared surnames: If subject shares a first name with a third party, some first-name-only references may be preserved. Review step handles these.
Mac / MSG: MSG is a Microsoft format. On macOS, dragging messages out of Outlook produces TXT rather than MSG. For MSG-heavy exports, prepare the files on Windows or use a PST export.

Sample data

Don't have test files? Use ours.

Before your DPA is executed, you can validate the product using synthetic sample data; your own documents can be uploaded once the DPA is signed. These files contain realistic but entirely fictional PII — no compliance risk.

SafeRedact Demo Pack

42 synthetic files: MSG emails, EML files, Teams HTML transcripts, CSV employee data, TXT meeting notes, and attachments. Data subject: David Mitchell (fictional). 9 identity fields, 15+ third parties.
